Marie Marguerite is 16 years old when she marries Prudent, who was 31 and whose first wife died only a year earlier. M. Marguerite has her first child when she is 19. She will birth a total of 15 over the course of 22 years. Her first two children do not survive more than a few months and she will have at least another three children perish young. She dies at the age of 41 (presumably from exhaustion).
5.1 Marie Anne’s mother-in-law is Marie Anne Beaudry. Is Jean Baptiste Beaudry, M. Marguerite’s husband’s father, her brother? We can assume that it was common to meet your future spouse at the wedding of one of your siblings (if they didn’t already know each other). Marie Anne was married three years before 1755, so it is possible that the wedding provided a venue for Marie Marguerite to meet Prudent. Further, M. Marguerite’s younger sister [3.6] M. Amable will marry Antoine Beaudry, Prudent’s brother, 12 years later.
Though, as noted below, Prudent was still married to his first wife in 1752.

- Birth or baptism – No date of birth or location were shown on the “PRDH” baptismal document. This is also the case for her burial document.
- Prudent Beaudry — Prudent is previously married to M-Louise Bissonet — she dies in 1754 at the age of 28. It is unknown if there are children from this marriage. The “AFGS” book “ROU 003”, entry 34, page 9, shows the date of the marriage to M. Marguerite as “28 January 1755”, and the “GPFR” source shows the date as “20 January 1754”. The reason for the conflict in these dates is unknown, but the most common date from all source materials for this couple is shown above.
- Typically, the location of Canada is shown for familiarity purposes. At this time in Canadian history, it would have been known as “Nouvelle France” (New France). See (Generation 11.32) Marcel’s “Introduction” and “Story of Pierre” for additional information. New France became the British Province of Quebec in 1763 after France ceded it in the Treaty of Paris at the end of the Seven Years’ War.
