The first born child of Jean Baptiste and Marie Marguerite is Marie Anne. She stays close to home and marries at age 17. She has six children with Toussaint Loiselle, all of whom live long enough to marry, but none of whom we have date of death or burial.
Toussaint dies in 1772, 20 years after their marriage at age 47, though this is suspect (see Notes). Marie Anne, at age 49, then marries Amable Liverois, himself age 36, twelve years after the death of Toussaint. They have no children that we know of.
Interestingly, when Toussaint and Marie Anne marry in 1752, Marie Anne’s parents name their new son Toussaint (also born in 1752). Toussaint is not a common “Hogue” name. Marie Anne’s brother Toussaint will die at age 24 in 1776 — could he have ben involved in supporting the French during the American Revolution?

- Death or burial – Gen. 11.32 Marcel could not find burial information in the “PRDH” database for Marie Anne. Nor could he find definitive burial information in the “PRDH” database for Toussaint. The burial information shown is suspect because the “PRDH” file did not contain sufficient data to attribute the information to this Toussaint. If the information is correct, then Marie-Anne remarries 12 years after the date shown, which would be unusual but not unlikely.
- Partner 1 marriage date – The “AFGS” book “ROU 003”, entry #23, page 8, shows date of marriage as 24 January 1752, taking place in “Point-aux-Trembles”. All other sources show the date and location shown here.
- Amable Benoit — Benoit has three children from a previous marriage (to Catherine Beique in 1759) when he marries Marie Anne. Catherine is shown as deceased, as well as Toussaint, on the “PRDH” marriage document for M-Anne and Benoit. M-Anne is 49 when she marries Benoit and he would be about 46 years of age. It is unknown if they have children – a “PRDH” search resulted in “No Record Found”.
- Typically, the location of Canada is shown for familiarity purposes. At this time in Canadian history, it would have been known as “Nouvelle France” (New France). See (Generation 11.32) Marcel’s “Introduction” and “Story of Pierre” for additional information. New France became the British Province of Quebec in 1763 after France ceded it in the Treaty of Paris at the end of the Seven Years’ War.
